1928 BMW R57 – Museum-Like Condition | Rare Pre-War Collector Motorcycle

For sale is an exceptional 1928 BMW R 57, presented in museum-like condition and finished to a beautiful collector-grade standard.

The BMW R 57 is one of the most desirable early pre-war BMW motorcycles. Introduced in 1928, it replaced the BMW R 47 as BMW’s 500cc sports model and represented the company’s early performance motorcycle engineering before BMW became widely known for its automobiles.

Powered by a 494cc air-cooled flat-twin boxer engine, the R 57 produced approximately 18 horsepower and was capable of around 70 mph, which was impressive performance for its era. It featured BMW’s signature shaft-drive layout and classic pre-war motorcycle design, making it a true piece of BMW history.

Production was extremely limited, with only about 1,000 examples believed to have been built, making surviving examples very rare today — especially in this level of presentation.
